We are grateful to Lynne and Mike for managing our teams and delighted to report that after beating our Tigers team in the semi-finals our Bears team went on to win the competition and be crowned as District Football Champions 2008. ]]> Sun Jul 13 2008 Giants & Monsters Camp http://2ndbracknell.fotopic.net/c1530563.html We returned to Walton Firs Camp Site in June for our Giants and Monsters Camp. Why giant? Because we were taking part in the Giant Sleepover in an attempt to beat the record for the number of simultaneous sleepovers. Despite a poor forecast the weather turned to be mainly sunny although cold at night. Parbrook cubs up and about. Shame it is only 5.30am The crow visited our site while the Cubs were in bed Crow damage on our rubbish bin Oh dear. Baloo has a word with Sean and Lee Breakfast time - nice clean cereal plates Bacon, spaghetti hoops and waffles Airing the tents Baloo pumps up the spacehopper Nicely turned out Grand Howl A welcome after breakfast break in the kitchen' Meanwhile, out on the field the monster games begin' Under the trees another group is looking puzzled'... ...as they try to work out one of Raksha's monstrous coded messages' ' ' Deep in the woods the cubs come across a monstrous spiders web' Easy does it' Each cub has to climb through a different hole' Back on the field another group is playing with the javelins Good throw ' Then out come the space hoppers' Meanwhile Marian and Stu prepare lunch in the mess tent Stu carefully measures out the squash I know vegetables are good for you but Hathi seems to have a lot on her plate Saturday lunch - sandwiches, crisps and fruit Akela's group start orienteering' Things get spooky in the maze' ' Raksha pops up in the middle of the maze' Waiting their turn at the archery' There it is - the cubs find another orienteering base With all the letters collected, what could that 11 letter word be? Chil's group are off to find the next orienteering base' The aim of the maze is to get to the yellow submarine The archery safety briefing Saturday dinner - chicken casserole, rice and mixed veg Tucking in Fresh fruit salad for pudding Trouble with June is that it is still light at camp fire time ' As this is Giant Sleepover evening we got the Cubs to pose in front of the banner.
